Labor in Edsa I revolution

It has been noted by some that representatives of the labor sector were absent during the Edsa I People Power revolution which toppled the dictator, Ferdinand Marcos.  If we are to base this from what organized labor was doing, one might lead to the same conclusion.  The biggest labor group, the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines was allied with the dictator, the left was noticeably absent in mass actions during the same period.  One group was present right after the Aquino assassination up to the EDSA revolution.

The Federation of Free Workers, specifically the group led by Efren Aranzamendez (FFW-ALAB) was active in the fight for freedom and democracy.  Starting with presence in every mass action in Ayala after Ninoy's assassination, then as a member of the NAMFREL executive council, culminating in the Edsa revolution starting that fateful day on February 22. Mr. Aranzamendez led the only organized labor group during Edsa I.  Here is his version of EDSA.
